People can become addicted to substances (eg; alcohol, drugs), objects, people or experiences. Some of the most common reasons why people may need to seek treatment are when the addiction negatively affects their lives, they struggle to function, the addiction becomes obsessive.
Common examples are alcohol and drug addiction, prescription drugs (such as pain relief or sleeping tablets), exercise, shopping, gambling, social media, etc.
